Donna Jane Short

Donna Jane Short, age 94, passed peacefully at her home on Friday, October 11, 2019 with her family by her side. Jane was born on May 21, 1925 in Lupton, MI to Alexander and Mildred (Markendorf) Parker. She has lived in Lupton her whole life. Jane was a faithful member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Rose City, a member of the Order of Eastern Stars and a charter member of the ESP Foundation (Educational Support Partnership). She retired from the Ogemaw County Road Commission in 1988 and also worked for the Ogemaw County Treasurers office. Jane enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family.
Jane is survived by her children Roxanne (Dan) Benjamin of Rose City, Randy (Jane) Short of West Branch, and Patti Ward of Lupton. She had 15 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Richard Parker of Troy, sisters-in-law Marian Parker and Vivian Greene. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur Short in 2005, daughter Cindy Short in 2013, son in law Lee Ward, 7 sisters, and 4 brothers.
Visitation for Jane will be held Sunday, October 20, 2019 at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch from 3-9 pm. An Eastern Star Service will be held Sunday evening at 6:00pm. Her funeral service will be held at the funeral home in West Branch on Monday, October 21, 2019 at 11:00am with visitation starting at 10:00am. Pastor Helen Alford will officiate with burial following at 3:00pm at the Oak Grove Cemetery in South Branch, MI.
In Lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested to the Arthur E. and Donna J. Short Memorial Scholarship Fund.
